Our first sailing trip was meticulously planned for an entire year, both financially and logistically. For most of us, it would be our first time on a sailboat, so we wanted to make sure everything was well prepared. Another reason for the careful planning was that we would have four children under 13 on board. Our crew consisted of two families - ours and our friends' - each with two adults and two children, as well as a skipper (our captain) who also happened to be a friend. Kid-friendly Weekend in Istanbul (3-day itinerary)

I fell in love with Istanbul when I spent four months living there back in 2009. Since then, whenever I could, I brought my family to visit the city. Several times over the last 10 years, when flying from Europe to Indonesia, I choose longer layovers in Istanbul so we could spend a day in the city. Once we spent a day in Hagia Sophia, another time in the Basilica Cistern. Other times, we simply walked around, had lunch, and returned to the airport for our connecting flight. This year, we finally decided to spend several days in Istanbul. Since it was in the middle of the school year, the kids skipped school on Friday, as we flew from Brussels on Thursday evening. Cloth-diapering on the road

When I was pregnant with baby girl, we decided to cloth diaper. It was a decision my husband and I made together. People around us thought we were crazy when they heard about this. But we simply didn't want the 2,000 kilograms of diapers our child would generate to be still present on earth in 2260 in the same form as they were disposed. Long story short, we've been successfully cloth-diapering for two years (and targeting to potty-train her in the summer). At some point last year, we decided to take it to another level: we wanted to cloth-diaper while traveling. The first few trips with baby girl (including a week of Berlin when she was 2.5-month-old) were accompanied by disposable diapers. After a couple of trips, we decided that it didn't make sense.
